A legendary Iberian figure, who has been a figure of worship for 700 years. Elizabeth of Aragon or Saint Elizabeth of Portugal (Zaragoza, Spain, 4 January, 1271 – Estremoz, Portugal, 4 July, 1336), was Infant in Aragon and queen consort of Portugal, wife of King Denis. Reputed as a miracle worker, she was beatified by Pope Leo X in 1516 and canonized by Pope Urban VIII in 1625. She is known to have been a woman mediator of conflicts and very generous towards others.
